$$$$$ for Scholarships

We are excited to announce this year’s fundraising Goal of $13,000 and extend an invitation for everyone’s participation. With your help, we can achieve this goal and help provide numerous scholarships for OAMR members! Here’s what’s happening this year and how you can help us reach our goal!

OAMR provides excellent opportunities for professional development and your generosity makes it possible for some of our other members to be able to attend training sessions.  Some of our members would never get to attend educational classes without the help of scholarships.  Here is what’s happening this year and how you can help us reach this goal.

All proceeds from our fundraising events go to the OAMR Scholarship Fund, which can benefit each of you and your cities.  Every year, numerous scholarships are awarded - maybe you have been the recipient of one of them.  Even if you can’t attend the Mid-YearAcademy or the Annual Conference, you can still donate items.  Just contact Special Projects Fundraising Chair Nicole Morris via email or your Region Director to make arrangements to get your items picked up.

Please fill out a Donation Slip with any item you have to donate and submit it with your item(s). These are used to provide you with a tax deductible receipt.

Pink Walk

The "Pink" (formerly Kathy Ishiara Scholarship) walk was founded as a means to honor Medford’s City Recorder Kathy Ishiara, who passed away in 1998 after a long battle with breast cancer. This year we will be walking around the beautiful Newport Bay Estuary while weaving in and around the Newport Aquarium, Hatfield Marine Science Center, and the NOAA Facility. The walk is sure to leave you parched, so for an additional fee we will be hosting a beer and spirits tasting at the Rogue Brewery.

How you can help:

  • Sign up for the Pink Walk  on your Annual Conference Registration form or sign-up when you arrive at the Conference. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged to ensure enough swag is available for all participants. The event will be $25.00
  • Participate in this event and get to know your fellow recorders in a fun new way, while helping raise money for scholarships!
Baskets

Each region will be creating a “Region Basket” this year, which will have amazing items that showcase our beautiful state.  Tickets are only $1 each or 6 for $5.

Six baskets will be raffled off at the Annual Conference. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Flyers and tickets are available now. All OAMR members have the opportunity to SELL, SELL, SELL!

How you can help:

  • Donate items from your region (overnight stays at area hotels/resorts/ casinos, gift certificates to local stores or restaurants, gift items made in your region or that your region is known for, etc.) and provide those items to your Region Director for your Regions Basket.
  • Buy and /or sell tickets for the raffle baskets.
Auctions

Each year, OAMR holds two Silent Auctions during the conference and one Live Auction during the Banquet.

Each year, OAMR holds two Silent Auctions during the Conference and one live Auction during the Banquet. This year the committee has some exciting fundraisers planned!

Silent auctions will be held Thursday and Friday. The first silent auction begins Thursday morning and concludes Friday afternoon. The second silent auction is set-up Friday for viewing, but bids are only accepted during the social hour prior to the banquet. The live auction occurs during the banquet and will be limited to a small number of exceptional items.

Auction items are donations from members, guests and businesses who generously donate items from our member communities.

This year’s banquet will host OAMR’s first Designer Purse Centerpiece Auction! Bring just your wallet and purchase yourself a fancy new purse to carry it home in.

The Paddle Raise is coming back this year at the banquet. Pick your favorite character, raise them up high in the air, and help support OAMR Scholarships.

How you can help:
  • Bring at least one item to donate for the auction.  Popular items donated in the past have been anything UO Ducks or OSU Beavers, event tickets, jewelry, wine, wine glasses, more wine,  yard/garden items, home décor, art, gift cards, spa items, overnight stays at area hotels/resorts/casinos, gift certificates to local stores or restaurants, gift baskets, items that reflect your region, etc.  Better yet, do you have the item of all items to donate for the live auction?  Let us know.
  • Fill out the Silent Auction Form and bring it with your donated items.
  • Give your items and silent auction forms to Susan, Debby, Donna, Carol or Terrie or drop them off at the auction drop off station as soon as you arrive at the Conference. This will give the committee time to get things organized before the events.
  • Sign up to be on one of the silent auction teams to help organize the auctions or to help with moving auction items to the banquet area.

50/50 Fundraiser- A deck of cards determines your fate. This entertaining fundraising event will be held at the Annual Conference Friday Luncheon. Cards will be $5 a piece and the winner takes half of the proceeds.

Pampered Chef- Either you’re a cook or you’re not. Either way Pampered Chef has great items for sale you can buy for yourself or as a donation to OAMR. Look for more information on this fundraiser coming in July.

Community Outreach Project

A few years ago OAMR started promoting a community outreach project for a charitable organization in the City hosting our conference. This year Samaritan House in Newport will be the recipient. Samaritan House is a transitional housing program for families experiencing homelessness. The apartment complex facility serves 10 families at a time in a 10-month residency program focusing on nurturing family dynamics, financial literacy and long-term housing stability. Each family meets weekly with a case manager who guides them through a client-centered, strengths-based approach. Every family is different and special, and every family can be successful. By the time each family graduates, they will have saved a small "nest egg" with which to secure their own independent housing.

Samaritan House furnishes apartments with basic furniture and household items. Current material needs are: twin size bedding (new), bath towels (new), pillows (new) and paper products like paper towels and toilet paper. Financial donations made to Samaritan House are 100% tax deductible; 501 (c) 3 organization.

Thank you so much OAMR for your amazing generosity toward our fundraising efforts.

I know this year is going to be amazing!
